Every year I attend one of the many week long schools offered through Professional Photographers of America. This year Texas school it was.. and it was great as usual to spend time with my bestie photographer friends!
I thought I would post a few images that I took over the week with the Sallee's.
PPA is the BEST organization to be in for a photographer. It's local, State and National affiliates are the only place to be! Will look forward to going again to another school next year!

Professional Photographers Print Competition

Two years ago, I decided to join the Professional Photographers of Oklahoma (PPOK). Joining this group has led to so many incredible educational and personal experiences in my photography career. I am currently a member of the Professional Photography Asociations of Tulsa (INPPA), Oklahoma (PPOK), Sothwest Area (SWPPA), and the National Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
I attend many conventions, schools, and seminars through out the year to stay on top of the ever changing technology and the latest in the industry. I have met so many inspiring professionals in my field and always enjoy my time with such good friends! Especially my good friend April, who is also driven by Art and Photography as much as I am!
This year I made the leap and entered my first photography competition sanctioned by the Professional Photographers of America at the annual PPOK convention. The goal is to get 80 or above which is considered a merit. The prints are judged based on the 12elements as outlined in the PPA print competition rules.
In the PPOK competition, "Overall, it's been a good day" received a merit and two awards for Distinguished portrait in the children's portrait category and also Distinguished portrait for first time entry. At the SWPPA, a five state regional competition, I received merits for "Overall, it's been a good day" and "Field of Dreams". These two prints will go on to the PPA this year and be judged on the National level. Thank you to all of you that have emailed me about the outcome, and I hope you all have had a great Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I believe that my New Year's resolution will be more blogging!!
This has been a great year, and I have so many images to post that were absolutely
amazing!
First of all, this family was such an inspiration to me. Their story is one that would melt all hearts, and I could have not asked for a nicer and more loving family as a client. I was truly honored to have created their portraits. Thank you!

What I try to achieve with all of my sessions is with the person photographed to be able to see their own individual beauty. I hope what is translated is a beautiful photograph of not what they look like, but *who* they are inside.
